Segundo Mart\u00ednez-Lozano certos grupos de dentes apresentam problemas na defini\u00e7\u00e3o radiogr\u00e1fica devido a morfologia de n\u00famero de canais, como por exemplo, os pr\u00e9-molares inferiores.<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 O tratamento endod\u00f4ntico \u00e9 sempre precedido por pelo menos uma radiografia do dente em quest\u00e3o. Quando h\u00e1 suspeita da presen\u00e7a de mais de um canal, mais de uma radiografia ser\u00e1 realizada antes do tratamento e a varia\u00e7\u00e3o do canal avaliada no momento correto.<\/p><p>O conhecimento pr\u00e9vio do n\u00famero exato de canais dos dentes com indica\u00e7\u00e3o de tratamento endod\u00f4ntico nem sempre \u00e9 poss\u00edvel quando se utiliza somente o exame radiogr\u00e1fico como m\u00e9todo auxiliar de diagn\u00f3stico. A avalia\u00e7\u00e3o tomogr\u00e1fica tridimensional da configura\u00e7\u00e3o do sistema de canal radicular \u00e9 recomendada na Endodontia, pois, o diagn\u00f3stico correto dessas varia\u00e7\u00f5es anat\u00f4micas \u00e9 importante para o sucesso do tratamento endod\u00f4ntico.<\/p><p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 As imagens sagitais e coronais (imagem 1) revelam esta altera\u00e7\u00e3o da anatomia do dente 34 associada com les\u00e3o na regi\u00e3o periapical.
