Esse defeito \u00f3sseo apresenta-se como uma regi\u00e3o radiol\u00facida, assintom\u00e1tica, com aspecto arredondado, bordas radiopacas com di\u00e2metro de variando de 1 a 3 mm, localizada na regi\u00e3o posterior da mand\u00edbula, na regi\u00e3o de molares e \u00e2ngulo da mand\u00edbula abaixo do canal mandibular e pr\u00f3ximo a base da mand\u00edbula. \u00c9 de f\u00e1cil visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o essas altera\u00e7\u00f5es em radiografias panor\u00e2micas, por\u00e9m, n\u00e3o \u00e9 poss\u00edvel realizar o diagn\u00f3stico s\u00f3 por esse meio de exame complementar. Esse tipo de anomalia apresenta maior incid\u00eancia em homens.<\/p><p>\u00c9 mais comum o aparecimento desse defeito \u00f3sseo em regi\u00f5es posteriores de mand\u00edbula unilaterais \u2013 j\u00e1 foram relatados achados bilaterais \u2013 mas existem casos relatados que foram encontrados na regi\u00e3o anterior de mand\u00edbula. Atualmente, acredita-se que esse defeito \u00f3sseo \u00e9 uma altera\u00e7\u00e3o de desenvolvimento e que n\u00e3o esta ligada a forma\u00e7\u00e3o fetal. Segundo alguns autores, descrevem que essa les\u00e3o \u00e9 decorrente de um processo osteocl\u00e1stico, que age de forma lenta e gradativa, ocasionada pela gl\u00e2ndula submandibular que exerce uma press\u00e3o na superf\u00edcie \u00f3ssea causando essa deformidade. Ou somente uma varia\u00e7\u00e3o anat\u00f4mica.<\/p><p>Freitas (2004) classifica o DODM como uma \u201centidade radiogr\u00e1fica n\u00e3o patol\u00f3gica\u201d; trata-se de uma imagem radiol\u00facida, circunscrita, de limites definidos e corticalizados. Em radiografias panor\u00e2micas, localiza-se entre o assoalho do canal da mand\u00edbula e a cortical da base da mand\u00edbula.<\/p><p>Na imagem a seguir observa-se uma imagem na regi\u00e3o de \u00e2ngulo direito da mand\u00edbula, entre a cortical inferior do canal mandibular e a base da mand\u00edbula (Imagem 1).<br \/><br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1184 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/radiologiajardim.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/stafne.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"311\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p><h6>Imagem 1 &#8211; Imagem radiol\u00facida de limites definidos e corticalizados, em corpo da mand\u00edbula, do lado direito, projetada entre o canal da mand\u00edbula e a base da mand\u00edbula \u2013 Defeito \u00f3sseo de desenvolvimento da mand\u00edbula (DODM).<\/h6><p>Por meio de tomografias computadorizadas, alguns autores enumeram subtipos de DODM de acordo com seu envolvimento\/profundidade com o osso cortical e com a medula \u00f3ssea:<\/p><ul><li>Subtipo I \u2013 conavidade limitada \u00e0 cortical lingual;<\/li><li>Subtipo II \u2013 concavidade da cortical lingual e que envolve os espa\u00e7os medulares;<\/li><li>Subtipo III \u2013 Depress\u00e3o da cortical lingual, envolvendo osso medular e com abaulamento da cortical vestibular;<\/li><li>Subtipo IV\u00a0 \u2013 H\u00e1 solu\u00e7\u00e3o de continuidade\/perfura\u00e7\u00e3o da cortical vestibular.<\/li><\/ul><p>Por se apresentar uma les\u00e3o assintom\u00e1tica, n\u00e3o \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio tratamento imediato, por\u00e9m, deve ser realizado acompanhamento radiogr\u00e1fico.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><hr \/><div><p><b><i>Dose de Sabedoria por: Dra Ana Luiza Riul, Dr. Luis Fernando Jardim e Dra.
