Em algumas situa\u00e7\u00f5es esses dentes mant\u00eam-se intra\u00f3sseos, podendo ser divididos em irrompidos e n\u00e3o irrompidos. Em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 angula\u00e7\u00e3o, os terceiros molares podem encontrar-se na posi\u00e7\u00e3o vertical, mesioangular, distoangular, horizontal, invertida e ainda em l\u00ednguo-vers\u00e3o ou vest\u00edbulo-vers\u00e3o (classifica\u00e7\u00e3o de Winter). Quando se trata de terceiros molares n\u00e3o erupcionados, estes podem apresentar-se inclusos ou semiinclusos, impactados ou n\u00e3o. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 35.4pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';\">A denomina\u00e7\u00e3o Dente Incluso \u00e9 dada ao elemento dent\u00e1rio, que estiver totalmente encoberto por tecido \u00f3sseo e\/ou mucoso, podendo ser visualizado somente atrav\u00e9s de meios auxiliares de diagn\u00f3stico, como radiografias ou tomografias, independentemente de estar em processo fisiol\u00f3gico de erup\u00e7\u00e3o ou sofrendo alguma obstru\u00e7\u00e3o f\u00edsica que o impe\u00e7a de irromper. Nesse \u00faltimo caso, ele \u00e9 subclassificado como impactado. A inadequa\u00e7\u00e3o do comprimento do arco dent\u00e1rio em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao espa\u00e7o necess\u00e1rio para a irrup\u00e7\u00e3o de todos os dentes \u00e9 a principal causa da impacta\u00e7\u00e3o dent\u00e1ria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 35.4pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';\">Na o<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';\">dontologia, os exames complementares por imagem s\u00e3o de extrema import\u00e2ncia para o diagn\u00f3stico, plano de tratamento e acompanhamento do quadro cl\u00ednico do paciente. Em muitos casos, a manuten\u00e7\u00e3o dos terceiros molares pode levar a uma s\u00e9rie de altera\u00e7\u00f5es patol\u00f3gicas tais como: processos infecciosos, les\u00f5es c\u00edsticas, les\u00f5es cariosas, doen\u00e7a periodontal, reabsor\u00e7\u00e3o radicular externa do dente adjacente, al\u00e9m do comprometimento de estruturas anat\u00f4micas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 35.4pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';\">A radiografia panor\u00e2mica \u00e9 uma das t\u00e9cnicas mais solicitadas entre as especialidades odontol\u00f3gicas, pois promove uma ampla visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o das estruturas dent\u00e1rias em conjunto com o complexo maxilo-mandibular, oferecendo como 11 vantagens a f\u00e1cil compreens\u00e3o pelo cirurgi\u00e3o-dentista e pelo paciente, baixo custo, dose e tempo de exposi\u00e7\u00e3o reduzidos, simplicidade e rapidez na execu\u00e7\u00e3o. No entanto, apresenta algumas desvantagens como distor\u00e7\u00e3o e sobreposi\u00e7\u00e3o de imagens, falta de detalhes, produ\u00e7\u00e3o de artefatos e a visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o bidimensional de reparos anat\u00f4micos tridimensionais.
